Tattoos have grown in popularity over the past couple of decades, and are a pretty a normal thing for millennials to have. That being said, it has become harder and harder for those who get tattoos to be original. It’s very easy to spot the same tattoo on different people. Often times, some tattoo parlors even use stencils for the repeated requests. You’ve all seen the cliché tattoos like the dreamcatcher, the anchor, the Chinese symbol, the infinity sign, etc. If someone wants to be original with their tattoo, they must come up with a truly unique design on their own or visit a tattoo shop with an amazingly creative artist.
Tattoo artist Winston the Whale has created a new tattoo look that is unlike anything you’ve probably seen before. Winston the Whale, also known as Dave, is the creator of the 3-D style tattoo. He is based out of Portland, Oregon, where he has gained a large following with his unique tattoo designs. His Instagram, @winstonthewhale, has already grown to almost 36k followers!
The tattoos feature the classic 3-D look, with a red/blue stereoscopic effect. The artwork pulls off a vintage look with old school subjects, like a raygun and a simple looking rocket. But the tattoos are more for looks than functionality: They don’t exactly actually pop off your skin if you were to put 3-D glasses on. Nevertheless, it’s still a cool concept.
